Investments
Alongside our own ventures, Purple Horizon backs early-stage technology companies. We invest our own capital, on our own timeline, in sectors we know as engineers.
What we look for
People who can build the first version themselves and who treat engineering as a competitive advantage, not a cost centre.
Products that someone needs and will pay for. We care more about a clear customer than a large slide-deck market.
Companies that can go a long way on a little, and that see revenue as the best source of funding.
Software, AI, financial technology, cloud and data infrastructure, and blockchain: the same ground our own ventures and engineering work cover.
How we invest
We invest from our own balance sheet. There is no outside fund, no fund clock, and no pressure to force an outcome on someone else’s timetable.
Our focus is the earliest stages, when a small cheque and a clear-eyed technical view are most useful.
Founders run their companies. We look for simple terms and minority positions, and we do not ask for control.
Where a founder wants it, we bring more than money: architecture reviews, hiring judgement and hands-on engineering help.
Portfolio
We would rather back a few companies properly than many thinly. Our investment portfolio is built to be small enough that every founder in it has our attention, and long-dated enough that nobody is rushed.
